Currently Munisco Ltd. is constructing a 1000ha centre pivot irrigation system project and the necessary infrastructure. The project is situated in the Afram Planes in the Eastern Region.

 

Apart from the supply and installation of 18 centre pivots and accessories, the work entails the clearing of 1,000ha of farm land, construction of 37km of road network, 26 culverts, 2 pump stations (main and booster), remotely controlled centre for the pump stations, 150m long, 10m deep and 30m wide head canal for water supply from the Volta Lake to the main pump station. Furthermore the work consists of the extension of electricity from the nearest community to the project site (both high tension and low tension), providing the infrastructure for internet connectivity, construction of 6 pivot distribution points. Temporary and permanent structures for project management and resident engineer’s offices are also included in the work.

In the Upper East Region, Munisco Ltd. is constructing the Tamne Irrigation Project, consisting of a dam and the irrrigation infrastructure; an area of 600 ha to be used for irrigation farming.

 

The scope of works consists of the construction of a 1,400m long earth dam, a 700m long and 80m wide spillway control structure and channel, a head gate and check gates for water delivery systems, clearing and development of 600ha of land for irrigation farming, construction of main canals of 10km, turnout structures, culverts and drains.

 

Munisco Ltd. also rehabilitates and reconstructs irrigation projects, and the Vea Water Supply Dam and Irrigation Project is one of them. Vea is located in the Upper East Region and the project was originally constructed around 1975.

 

The scope of works entails the reconstruction and rehabilitation of an 8km long main canal and farm roads, reconstruction of the reservoir outlet and offtake chambers, supply and installation of 2 new main outlet valves, reconstruction of lateral canals and the reconstruction of all broken down drainage culverts and catchment drain.
